THE DYNAMIC DUO IN ACTION USING BLAZING STROKES AND 'SUPERHERO' CONCENTRATION

Nestled between the Sapphire and Bitterroot mountain ranges of Montana lies a broad valley filled with rivers, streams, farms, fields, wildlife and small western towns.  Inspiring the year round, it becomes especially magical during the Fall coloration.

For the last ten Autumn seasons, Catherine Gill and Bob Phinney have conducted oil and watercolor painting workshops here and, a few times, in the Cascade Mountains of Washington.

New Location for 2014!!

This year we are moving west to the wonderful Teanaway Valley, just outside Cle Elem, WA.  This is a beautiful valley with light like I seldom see it.  There is a mystical glow to the whole area.

Bob contemplates the 'Big Shapes'

It is rare and unique to have two accomplished well spoken artists lead a workshop.  It is even more unusual for them to work side by side in different media.

One of Bob's Drawings

Watercolor by Cathe
Cathe and Bob are each fluent in watercolor, oil and mixed media.  For this workshop, however, they focus on different media, Bob in oil and pencil sketching, Cathe in watercolor and mixed media, doing many demonstrations of the same or similar scenes.  In one demo Bob will show you how he quickly sketches in advance of painting.  In another, Cathe will show how to  'ooze' watercolors with pastel.  Presentations of painting in watercolor, painting in oil, color and color mixing, composition, sticking with the 'big shapes' and much more.

Three information packed days, a meet and greet, personal and group instruction, many demonstrations and a voluntary student critique make the Bitterroot Workshops something you won't want to miss.

Cathe relates how young she was when she began painting....
